Sweden and Finland have a long tradition of good competitions regardless if it is athletics, ice hockey or motor sports. Now with the addition of Poker the excitement is completed.

Pokerfinnkampen is a well known concept within poker. It is a tournament and competition on a national level between Swedes and Finns, but also an individual competition between the players.

Pokerfinnkampen started in 2007 after a pilot tournament in December 2006. In 2007 and 2008, seven tournaments have been played at Estonia’s largest casino: Reval Park Hotel & Casino in Tallinn. The total number of players has amounted to approx. 700.

The competitions are played as No Limit Texas Hold’em tournaments with a maximum of 100 players representing each country. There are three ranking systems used in order to determine the winners: Individual, Terminator and Total Ranking.

Finland has finished as the overall winner in both 2007 and 2008 as well as the winner of the test pilot in 2006. Last year, it was a very close call with Finland winning by just 80 points, 4,480 – 4,400.

After the great successes of Pokerfinnkampen from previous years, the organizer will arrange three tournaments in 2009. All the tournaments will be held at the Reval Park Hotel & Casino.

Poker Tour Finnkampen will be co-hosted with several of the best online gaming sites; where you can qualify to the tournament through online satellites, both in Sweden and in Finland.
